About

Designing a survey builder tailored for corporate culture and HR needs

Large organizations often need flexible internal tools for gathering employee feedback—from engagement tracking to post-event surveys. Existing solutions lacked native HR integration and offered limited customization. We set out to build a tool that feels familiar to teams yet offers powerful features for analytics and scaling.

Feature development process

From hypothesis to prototype: building a survey tool grounded in user behavior

The challenge was to design a scalable, easy-to-use survey builder supporting multiple formats, templates, and analytics, fully integrated with the HR platform.

Goal
Create an internal tool with pulse and longform surveys, multiple question types, embedded dashboards, and compatibility with employee engagement, 360 reviews, and NPS formats.

Process
I independently led the discovery phase: ran benchmark analysis (Typeform, Culture Amp), drafted over 100 user behavior hypotheses, and prototyped key flows in Figma. The MVP included branching logic, reusable templates, and a clear interface. I conducted usability testing with 10 HR specialists and line managers, developed a research questionnaire, and held in-depth interviews. Based on confirmed patterns and pain points, I iterated the design and collaborated with developers during delivery.

Key Challenge
Only 20% of initial hypotheses were validated, while testing revealed hidden friction points in template creation and navigation. The challenge was balancing flexibility with ease of use for non-technical HR users.

Result

Result

A native HR survey builder that empowers teams to launch and analyze feedback at scale

The feature became a core component of the internal HR ecosystem, used across departments for both ad-hoc and recurring surveys. It supports integrated analytics and PDF export and drastically reduced time spent on survey launch and data interpretation.

The interface enables users to:
• Launch surveys without developer support
• Choose from pre-configured or custom templates
• Track engagement across departments in real time
• Export results or feed data directly into other HR modules
